Huynh Le Mai, director of VIB in the region, told a seminar yesterday that the bank has launched various attractive forex products for local exporters who can open accounts at VIB branches at free-of-charge.
Vietnam International Commercial JS Bank (VIB) will lend VND3 trillion at preferential interest rates to firms in the Mekong Delta region to boost their exports of rice and seafood.
At present, VIB has around 15,000 corporate customers nationwide.
Commercial banks in Vietnam are seeking to disburse more loans to realize targets set for 2010 as their total outstanding loans in the first five months rose less than expected.
High interest rates have so far kept individuals and firms away from bank loans while incomes from lending activities account for a majority in profits of local banks.
