$200m loan contract signed

Eight commercial banks yesterday jointly signed in the central province of Quang Ngai a credit contract with the Binh Son Refining Petrochemical Company to provide it a synthetic loan worth US$200 million.

Ocean Bank is the loan arranger. Other involved banks are TienPhong Bank, Vietnam International Bank, Lien Viet Bank, VietinBank, Credit Agricole Corporation and Investment, HSBC, and Indovina Bank.

Binh Son was established in 2008 in order to take over the management and operation of the Dung Quat Oil Refinery Factory.

The $3 billion Dung Quat Oil Refinery is the first of its kind in Viet Nam, capable of treating 6.5 million tonnes of crude oil per year.

By the end of April, it produced 2.670 million tonnes of products, including LPG and petroleum.

Singapore to host glass expo

Concrete plant begins operations

HCM CITY - A concrete block plant using German technology began production in HCM City late last week.

The Tan Ky Nguyen Block Brick Joint Stock Company plant has a capacity of 100,000cu.m a year, producing soft concrete blocks called e-blocks, using sand, cement, gypsum and lime.

E-blocks are 15 per cent lighter than the usual concrete blocks and cut costs for the builder by 10 per cent, company president Phan Hoai Thanh said.

They sell for VND1.5 million (US$78) per cubic metre.
