DHL is investing more than $1.5 million to build a new DHL Distribution Center at Inland Clearance Depot Song Than, Binh Duong in Vietnam. A 15,000-sqm built-to-suit multi-user warehouse, the development of the DHL Distribution Center, is part of overall plans to expand DHL Supply Chains footprint throughout Vietnam.
Occupying a total land area of 60,000 sq.m, the site will be developed in three phases. In the first phase, the distribution center will feature an Integrated Packaging Center (IPC).
The Integrated Packaging Center will help businesses enhance the speed-to-market of their products as it will provide a coordinated system of preparing goods for transport, warehousing, logistics and sale which will serve the needs of companies across a wide range of industries including technology, consumer and retail sectors. Construction for the new facility commenced in March 2010 and is expected to be completed before Q4 2010.
Located in the province of Binh Duong, Song Than, 20km away from Ho Chi Minh City centre; the distribution center is connected to the South, Central and Northern parts of Vietnam.
Paul Graham, CEO, DHL Supply Chain Asia Pacific, said: "Our investment in the new facility signals DHL Supply Chains commitment to Vietnam, and confidence in the dynamic and growing economy.
With the governments projected GDP growth of 6.5 -7%, and Asia Pacific packaging market growing at 4.7% per annum, our investment will further strengthen the range of world-class solutions available to businesses operating in Vietnam."
"By integrating the packaging services with the warehousing and distribution operations, we can ensure enhanced flexibility in packaging requirements and market responsiveness for our customers. We will continue to focus on sector-specific solutions for our customers and provide the flexibility of multi-user warehousing as required by our customers in this dynamic market," commented Ryan Tang, Country Manager, DHL Supply Chain Vietnam.
