President Nguyen Minh Triet yesterday said he expected to see more Korean investors arriving in Viet Nam while he was receiving Jung Sung-Jin, Chief Executive Officer of Korea Western Power Company (KOWEPO), a Korean state-own utility.
Triet appreciated KOWEPOs interest in investing in Viet Nam, saying South Korea has long remained one of Viet Nams top investors.
He said that Viet Nam was determined to foster ties with South Korea in the spirit of ‘Strategic Partnership, which was achieved on President Lee Myung-baks official visit to Viet Nam last October.
The industrialisation process that Viet Nam has gone through has resulted in demand for energy being greater than ever. The energy projects KOWEPO has carried out so far in Viet Nam fit with the countrys development vision.
Jung congratulated Viet Nam on its achievements and development. Describing Viet Nam as an Asian dragon economically, Jung said Viet Nam was a destination that many investors, especially those from South Korea, were interested in.
KOWEPO is considering investing in the Son My 2 Thermo-electricity Plant in the central coastal province of Binh Thuan, given the companys strengths in hi-tech design and operation and maintenance of power plants, according to Jung.
